問題の原因などを「つきとめる」とか「見つけ出す」と言う時の表現 figure out です。
figure out を一つの成句で、work out とも言います。この後には間接疑問文も用いられます。
[適用事例]
1. Maybe you can figure out which way the wind will blow. （どちらに風が吹くか、おわかりいただけるでしょう）
2. Maybe you can figure out on which side your bread is buttered. （パンのどちら側にバターがぬってあるか、おわかりいただけるでしょう）
3. Maybe you can figure out where the short cut is. （近道はどこか、おわかりいただけるでしょう）
